review 1: This book was heart-wrenching, but not overly sentimental. I read this in about a day, because the writing kept me so engaged I had to figure out the connections between the characters. I won't go into detail, because I would gush so much about this book and feel like it would need a spoiler alert. The writing is lovely and I believe the author gets what it means to be a teenager in the modern age. The book also speaks to the emotions that a teenager would have, whether in mourning, with family and friends, getting through school, or just struggling in life. I appreciated that the Martin didn't talk down to her reader, but conveyed emotions through her words. I plan on getting a copy of this for my classroom library, because it is one of the few books which has made my per... moresonal favorites list.
review 2: While I was at the library, this book caught my attention so I checked it out. The beginning was pretty engrossing, but as the story continued it got boring and I kept dragging through the pages. I found that while it was in Breckons's perspective there was a lot of unnecessary cursing, and blah. I really didn't want to continue reading the book, but I still wanted to see how things would end for Ashlyn and Breckon. I would have rated this book 2 stars if it wasn't for the emotional ending. less
