review 1: AMAZING. This book is one of the most thought provoking books I've ever read and I loved it. I can relate to Freya in the way that she hates her new school. I went through this when I transferred school districts and had a terrible first year when I didn't know where I fit in. I would definitely recommend this to people who enjoy a mind-bending, scientific, mildly romantic book. One thing I noticed was that a lot of the story had to deal with flashbacks. Freya often who flashback to the future (or her past) and this would cause twists to the story. The entire plot of this story is interesting because you sort of start in the middle of it and continue forward while discovering the previous events. Thought-provokingly readable and definitely a must-read.
review 2:... more> This book was such a quick read, which i always love. I put it down maybe once but read at least 100 pages every time i picked it up again without even realizing how much i'd read until i looked at the page numbers. At first i was skeptical in picking out this book, but i had't read a good dystopian novel in a while and it looked like a single book (not a series or trilogy), unlike a lot of books are now, which attracted me to it. I also read the acknowledgements before-hand and saw that there was a page listing a bunch of musicians from the 1980's which means the author of the book has to be a pretty cool person. I could relate to a lot of the main characters (Freyas) thoughts (aside from the whole being from the 2063 part, although the book mostly takes place in 1985). Freyas friends, Christine and Derreck,(Garren too) were also amazing characters. I can only hope that if i was alive back then i would've been friends with people like them. Even though the book had apocalyptic features most of it actually seemed very realistic.Their way of life could be the outcome of how were living now. I was fascinated when Freya described the world in 2063, but i have to admit i did get a little confused in parts of the 3 chapter description. When i finished the book i longed to know more about Garren and Freya and how their future turned out,so now that i know there is a second book coming out i am very excited. I think the only reason i didn't feel compelled to give it 5 stars was because the plot was a little fast(which can be a good thing). Needless to say Martin is a fantastic writer with good taste. I would recommend this book to any who happens to come across this review. less

Way too long of a beginning and way to quick of a developed ending. Great characters.

The use of the f-word many times and a sex scene means that I cannot recommend this
