review 1: 3 STARS - I LIKED ITNow that I've finished all 5 books I can say that the series as a whole bounced back and forth between 3 & 4 stars. This last book was enjoyable but it became really far-fetched, even for a fantasy novel. I still enjoyed the journey and like the characters, I believe the author is going to write some more books that focus on some of these secondary characters. If you enjoy fantasy/romance this is a good series.
review 2: I finally *FINALLY* finished this series. On one hand, it was epic. Seriously. It rightfully belongs in the Epic Fantasy genre and it is a page-turner. Once you begin, you are basically obliged to finish. There were many things I liked about the series (and yes, although this review is, technically about book 5, I feel I
... moreshould review the series as a whole, since the book wraps it all up... mostly):- I liked the plot. It was intriguing and there was a clear conflict, a climax, and an ending.- Great writing. I have to give it to Ms. Wilson. She rocks the boat.- Loved the made-up world and the various creatures with unique characteristics, cultural aspects, and beliefs. - Liked most characters.- Liked the world's mythology.- I loved it that the book was very entertaining. My greatest disappointment with the series was, in fact, the heroine. I think the series would have been MUCH better if the mayor problems hadn't been in her head. I mean, the world is being destroyed and the solution to it all is for her to get her priorities straight? Come on! She DID evolve, and by the end, she was almost cool, but it took her too much and I really can't empathize with a weak female lead. When she makes the big decision all I could think was "F***ING FINALLY". Even my father stared at me strangely as I looked up at the sky and prayed. It took her too long and it shouldn't have. That was my biggest problem with the series and that's why I finally rate it with a 4 instead of a 5. After all those head-banging moments with Ellie, it can't be any other way.On the other hand, I was slightly mortified with the main male lead too. A bit too corny for my taste. The other characters are mostly amazing. Villains are REAL, bad-ass villains. They are always scheming and you never know how it's truly going to end. The secondary characters should have led the story. They were truly great support and I'm glad they were there. They made the story worthwhile. Another "con" is that many stories are ultimately left in the air. I hope Ms. Wilson eventually comes back to them. I'd definitely read those.Ultimately, it's a very entertaining read. Two thumbs up. less

My rating for the series: 4-stars for Book 1~33-stars for Book 4&5Like:OriginalityMagic Rain and Fey warriors were awesome!Meh:I thought the storyline was in need of a director's cut on some repetitive scenes. The characters were well-developed, but by book 4, some of them turned into 1-D or 2-D characters that contributed very little excitement to the final installment.Predictable plotLack of twists and turns The bad people hold the ball and score points while the good guys just play defense! I mean it was just damn frustrating!

I was somewhat disappointed in this final book. It was more running around, more battles, the finale I expected. However, she spent quite a bit of time on the umagi girl who was really a mage. And there was no real wrap up for her. She escaped but was not mentioned again. I don't think the Fey would have just left her and the Fey woman out there. Also, mages escaped through the well. So there could still be more written in this world.
