review 1: What I liked about this book is that besides addressing Anne Boleyn and her family, it also addressed popular dramas and dispelling myths about the other Tudors, especially those associated with Anne Boleyn before and during her time as Queen. Anne Boleyn was far from perfect and the author makes a point to bring out the true Anne, not the one skewed in historical fiction, or hyper-sexualized in popular dramas, but the intelligent, witty Anne Boleyn who caught the King's eyes and who influenced him with Reformist ideas. This does not mean Anne was a staunch Reformer, while she did impulse the Reform, Anne adhered, like Henry, to some conservative ideals. The countdown is brilliantly explain and while short, nothing is left out.
review 2: I'm a huge fan of the T... moreudor period and I found this book very easy to read and understand. Other books I have read, while very good, bombard with names/places/dates etc so it can become confusing as so who is who and what's going on, this book doesn't do that. I like that the author made her own views clear. Others, though informative, leave you wondering where they stand on the issues. Not really the best written book I have read, mostly due to the fact that some things were repeated, but this is probably one of my favourites on the topic owing to the fact that the author and I share the same opinions. Overall really quite good and I think it'd be an excellent book for children learning about this topic. less
