Good morning! I hope you all had an amazing weekend—mine sure was. I actually got to sit back and relax on Saturday! I went to a bunch of a holiday bizarres and markets around town (and wore this outfit), which was really fun. Although, I’m trying to avoid feeling Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Anyways, today I wanted to talk about this outfit and the amazing color combination that’s happening here.
I wasn’t sure if I would like this beige/crème jacket with my emerald green pants, but the colors ended up looking great together. The outfit felt like it needed something a little more than a solid-colored shirt underneath, so I chose this dark floral print to add a little texture. The beige fringe boots were chosen to tie the jacket’s color back into the outfit. This made it a more cohesive look. Finally, I finished the outfit off with some dainty jewelry and a black fringe purse to match the fringe on the shoes.
This is such a great outfit “formula” to use—a structured jacket, solid-colored pants, and a printed blouse underneath to add some visual interest. I dare you to try something similar in your own closet! Having this “formula” in mind can save you a ton of time when getting dressed and keep you looking stylish even in a rush. And the best part about this outfit outline? You can reuse it over and over again, with slight variations to your blouses, accessories, and even pants.
So now let’s talk about color combos. I realize green pants are a bolder choice, and maybe you would never buy them, which I totally understand. But how else can you incorporate this gorgeous jewel tone? The easiest way is in a blouse, which I consider “no risk” since tops can be layered under clothing if you feel like it’s too bold. Another great way to incorporate this color is through accessories! As the weather gets colder, our option for accessorizing increases a lot, so think of pretty green scarves, gloves, or even sassy earmuffs. And of course, you can’t forget the year-round add-ons like purses and belts. As I always say, if you’re nervous about trying a new color or style, start small by purchasing small pieces.
If you’re worried emerald green doesn’t go with any other colors, here are some suggestions: blush or light pink, burgundy, grey (both light and dark), camel, beige (like my jacket), and navy.
