review 1: Well, I was prepared for another redemption Vampire story after reading the first two books in this series, and if that's what this had been then I would have been a bit disappointed (unending love for Ms. Gleason not withstanding). I was pleasantly surprised. The Vampire Narcise is different than its two predecessors and much, much darker. The romance is tested so much more, there are so many more dark scenes and trials for the characters to get through. And the ending is different as well. The settings were less in the ballrooms of the aristocracy than the other two novels, which made me a little bit sad since Ms. Gleason does such an amazing job of describing such scenes. But otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The love between the two characters was so very real... more after all that they'd been through... I'm so glad the ending turned out as it did.
review 2: Narcise was my favorite heroine of the Draculia trilogy, but this was my least favorite book. The narrative was very choppy, because the story starts before the other books in the series, presents some parralell events and then goes beyond those books. This just didn't work for me. The main reason is that, at its heart this was a love triangle. In Chas Woodmore and Giordan Cale, Narcise had two compelling suitors. The more interesting and complex relationship might actually be that of Narcise, the vampire and vampire hunter Chas. Unfortunately, the first part of the book chronicled the history between Narcise and Cale. It was interesting, but if you read the other books, you knew how it turned out. This made me want to get to the meet of the story, the choice between Chas and Giordan. Unfortunately, this part fizzled. I wanted to love this book, but it didn't happen. It's a good book, but it is not as strong as the previous entry in the series. less
