review 1: Holy cow, this novella had me spellbound! I could've read an entire book based on Yesubai's life. This is was beautifully written but deeply depressing and though I love the budding romance between Bai and Kishan, I just wanted her to be safe!!! And that never happened because of that sadistic monster, Lokesh; this novella exposed just how truly depraved he was.Colleen has done it again! This short was sad but so good. Best part? NOOOO Kelsey!! Bahahaha. Sorry, I had to.
review 2: I remember when my friend gave me a stack of books to read. Tigers curse was among then and from (yes) judging the cover I decided that I most likely wouldn't enjoy it, even though it is a beautiful cover. It wasn't till I got to the end of that stack that I decided to give it a try..
... more.. Which began my absolute LOVE for the series. It's been a little more than half a year since I last read it but once I heard of Tigers Promise, I rushed to acquire it and not a moment of the series was forgotten.Trapped under the thumb of her abusive and powerful father Lokesh, Yesubai struggles to keep her own magical abilities secret while evading his dark powers. When Lokesh promises Yesubai to the prince of a neighboring kingdom, she becomes the central pawn in his plot to destroy the ruling family and take power for himself. Yesubai is trapped by her father’s threats and desperate to protect the man she comes to love, but she knows that any decision she makes will have dire consequences. As dark forces gather around her, Yesubai must decide if she’s willing to reveal that somewhere deep within her she has the power to change everything.Yesubai. The character who influenced a huge part in the series. She was the reason for Ren and Kishans tension in the beginning, yet Yesubai was a hidden character. Only memories to bring her to life. Now however we can understand the suffering and betrayal that she endured. Colleen writes in such a way that I felt for Yesubai and her troubles every steps of the way, hoping for the end result to be in her favor but knowing that wasn't going to happen. We got to see where Yesubai's heart lies. We got to know that what the brothers said was true. She was beautiful and enchanting. less
