review 1: Short stories. All great but my favorite was 'All seated on the ground' in which 6 Aliens arrive at a small town in the USA and just stare at everybody. In an attempt to communicate with them a committee is formed who try everything to get there attention. They are eventually taken to a shopping mall and all of sudden the entire group sits on the ground. After much discussion it is decided that they have reacted to a Christmas carol that was playing. The rest of the story is about finding the right song, which they do and when the aliens are taken to a concert by a local choir group, they start talking perfect English and explaining that they had visited Earth to find out if humans could live in harmony and the choirs had proved that they could. and they could now rep... moreort to their leader that we were ok. This was written with much humour.
review 2: Although all the novellas included in this book have been Hugo or (at times and) Nebula award winners, my personal rating for them would be three stars only (compared to this book, Willis' earlier opus "Winds of The Marble Arch" covered a much greater spectrum of her storytelling oeuvre, esp. since several of the novellas appeared either excessively grim or depressing or long). One star had to be added purely on the basis of the truly delightful 'Afterword'-s to every story, and (especially) the three speeches added to the book. If you have any love at all for the wonderful world of science-fiction or fantasy, you should get this book. But if you can get hold of the better & bigger volume that I have already mentioned, that would give you a lot more pleasure. Recommended. less

Some good short stories, but they aren't as good as her novels. She's an amazing writer.
