review 1: I was a little worried when I started on this book; romance series still run the risk of redundancy, of love scenes that are similar and of having characters with different names but the same personalities. I was pleased to find that that was not at all the case in this book. Though all of the characters are primarily strong, each one is still crippled in some way or another. However, Mac and Tania are their own people with their own style of loving.I can tell that Callahan is spreading the world further so that the threat to the Nightfuries can continue to be amped up. But perhaps my only complaint is that she's stretching a bit too far too early; there's Nian in the Archguard who is doing everything in his power to send another female to the States (presumably another fe... moremale for one of the Nightfuries) and then of course Ivar's conquest trying to find someone to combat Mac's water-based abilities. Switching between all of them wasn't too jarring, but because it's obvious who the next female will be, I don't understand the importance of the new female character being revealed, even with her special ability.In the end, however, I was satisfied with the overall book. It does a great job of balancing the characters we're already familiar with without making Black Diamond seem too crowded. I'm ready for the next installment, to say the least.
review 2: Ok I am not sure how but all I can keep thinking is that I want more. I love that Mac was brought into the family and that him and Angela could still stay close. I was very excited when Tania and Mac seemed to be interested in each other because it solved Myst and Tania missing each other and Tania's search for her missing friend. Even though Mac was the new guy and a water dragon which is practically a myth he was totally amazing and he learned fast and totally threw himself into his new role and his detective skills really seemed to help him figure things out and become an asset pretty quickly. He seems just as powerful as Riker and Bastian even though he wasn't aware of his true nature until later in life. I can't wait for the 4th book because I really want to hear about the rest of the Dragonfury Clan and I can't wait to see what happens next! Definately an amazing series and I would definately recommend it. less
