review 1: 4 stars!Okay, I jumped at the chance of reading this book because when I read the synopsis, I saw that there were DRAGONS in this book! Oh man, anyone who knows me knows how much I love dragons! Like, I have a serious love for them! Also, this book set in the Medieval era was another HUGE plus for me.This book did live up to my expectations! I loved the characters of Xavian (awesome name, right!?) and Afina. Oh man...Xavian was a tortured hero and even though he did the, "why me?...she deserves better.." I still really liked him and his growth as a man. AFINA!! Oh man...I loved her right off the bat. She started off a mother who did what ever she could to take care of little Sabine then she discovered her magic and oh man...SHE GREW SO MUCH!! Whoa.... like I love how even... more though she had her knight in shining armour, she didn't need him! The reason it's not getting that 5th star is because there were some loose ends that were not tied up as well as some minor insta-love going on that I didn't like. But LOVED this book a ton and I can't wait to read Henric's story!
review 2: This book was amazing. It took me to places I didn't even know exist, and I ship Xavian and Afina A LOT. So what happens in the book is that Vladimir needed Afina because he wants to be ruler of Translyvania...really, bro? Really? So he sent Xavian to get her and the child Sabine...but Xavian didn't mean to fall in love with her, take Afina's virginity, save her from slavers, try to protect her from dragons (which I got happy about...I mean DRAGONS people!!), oh and the original idea for Afina was to make her his healer at Drachaven, but then he fell in love and now she's the Lady of Drachaven. Afina also met her brother Henrik, whom she thought he was dead, but he wasn't :) Also I loved the magic in this story and I really wanna read more from this book series now. I really do recommend this book because it's awesome and amazing and I did end up crying at some parts of the novel. less
