review 1: Sophie thinks that the pen pal assignment will just be another boring thing that she has to do. However, soon, her world starts to fall apart. Her parents get divorced and her best friend starts to hate her. Angry at her dad leaving, Sophie ignores him at first. These things she can't tell anyone else but Katie, her pen pal. Katie understands, right? Soon, however, Sophie realizes that she really can't keep hiding from her dad, and they make up to each other. Because of the time that they didn't have together, Sophie's dad agrees to take her on a trip to near Redwood City, which is near where Katie lives. The two are excited to meet each other, having become good friends over mail. Katie, in Redwood City, has had an excellent idea. She wants to start a jog-a-thon to raise ... moremoney for the people that were caught in the recent Mexican earthquake. However, her best friend, Jake, starts to hang out with another girl, and to Katie it seems that they are actually crushing on each other. In order to have Jake pay more attention to her, Katie lies to Delanie that Jake actually likes another girl. However, Jake soon finds out and gets mad at Katie. Delanie, however, forgives her easily and the two become good friends. Jake quits the jog-a-thon, named Emily's Run, and leaves Katie and Delanie to figure everything out on their own. Katie wanted Jake to do Emily's Run with her, but now it seems like they won't be friends anymore. However, she is excited to finally meet Sophie. How will Katie manage everything at once?
review 2: I liked this book alot. It was about 400 pages long but worth it. This was two books in one about two girls writing to each like pen pals and telling eachother secrets. I liked it because these girls are at an age where they experience new emotions and how they have a strong friendship connection and tell eachother about what is happeing in life and ask eachother or advice. Such a girl book so a must read for us. less
