review 1: A beautiful and truly captivating romance. I could not put this one down, this story was so breath takingly tragic and beautiful I would go as far as to say this is the "Romeo and Juliet" of paranormal romance. The hero is swoon worthy and the heroine is strong and courageous. These two make an amazing pair that complement eachother perfectly and you can't help but fall in love with them both. The plotline was amazing! It was full of twists, turns, dips and spins...it was fast paced and action packed. Eden has some serious talent for weaving incredible tales of true love doing the impossible. Her stories are complex but easy to follow, her settings are descriptive and vivid and her characters are developed and inspiring. Such serious writing talent here, I gain more respec... moret for her with every chance I get to read her stories. This book is a MUST READ for any paranormal fan.
review 2: Interesting concept, non-stop action, flat characters and lots of repetition. You would think that between a fallen Angel of Death and a recently sweet school teacher turned vampire, Eden could have found something more compelling to write about than nearly identical chase and fight sequences interspersed with sex scenes and repetitive dialogue in which characters withhold knowledge for no apparent reason. It isn't terrible by genre standards but any pair of lovers could have been shoehorned into this plot. The heroine, Nicole had zero personality and pretty much no back story. She spent the entire book whining about having no choice but to kill and seems to have no deeper aspiration then to continue to live on planet earth. Keenan the Fallen hero wasn't much better. I really had no clue why they were together and skimmed all of the generic graphic sex scenes because there was no emotional component that made me root for them coming together. They both lacked agency and frankly didn't come across as any more sympathetic then the guys who were chasing them. The world building was confused. It really wasn't clear if a Death Angel has to touch someone in order for them to die or if people died without them and they just escorted the souls to their destination. There sure don't seem to be enough of them around to gather up all of the dead souls, especially since we know Keenan apparently had enough leisure time to spend quite a bit of it following Nicole around before arriving on page one of this book to collect her soul. Since he was supposed to escort her soul to heaven, I didn't get why he had a problem doing his job. I also didn't get what was so special about her or how she could have been considered any kind of prize. The only character I really liked was another Fallen, Sam who stars in the next book, so I will probably read the next one. less
