review 1: I call Amish books my "comfort reads." I turn to them when the stresses of life get a little too much. I like them because the characters solve generally solve their conflicts with family, friends and faith. This quick little book was enjoyable but was more about a troubled "English" family who moves to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and is basically saved by the kindness of their Amish neighbors and the lessons learned from these "plain" people. It is billed as a Christmas book, but most of it takes place at other times of the year. Still, I enjoyed it and it did help with my stress level and helped me feel a bit "Christmassy."

... moreaving Christmas in July. A good twist of storyline with the Davis family (a family struggling with finances) moving close to the Fischers, (an Amish family). The influence this Amish family has on the Davis' helps change the discord in their home and the path of their family. Two different families, two different cultures, yet similar problems. For anyone who would like a sweet short read, I recommend this book. less
