review 1: 1. Lily the Unicron loves making new friends the best of all. She likes making other things too like art and music but her favorite of all is making new friends. She has lots of friends but then one day she meets Roger the Penguin. Roger doesn't like to do any of the things that Lily likes to do. He doesn't like to do them because he is afraid he will fail. But once Lily tells him its ok to fail, you just have to get back up and keep smiling, he is ready to take on the adventures!2. The children could write a story about a time they were afraid try something new because they might fail. Also have them tell how the situation could have been different if they had a friend like Lily. 3.Clayton, D. (2014). Lily the unicorn (p. 38). New York: Harper Collins Publi... moresher.
review 2: Whenever I see a picture book on unicorns, I get really excited. Then I opened this book and wasn't so excited anymore. I think that's because I was looking at this through the lens of using it in storytime, which I wouldn't do. The illustrations are too many and busy. However, this book is great for reading one-on-one with a kid. The pages are chock full of pictures, and the little notes next to them are very funny. Lily, a very persistent unicorn, befriends Roger, a very persistent penguin. Lily tries to get Roger to join in the awesomeness of being a unicorn, but when he doesn't play nicely, she digs deeper to find the true source of Roger's unease. The best part of the book is discovering what's in the margins, and my favorite part were the pages introducing Roger, whose "favorite dance is sitting down," and whose "favorite hobby is organizing blank paper." less

Both Lily and Roger make so much sense to me. I really worry about those two.

Ugh. Hated the pictures. Story was okay, but the pictures ruined it for me.

The pages were really busy, and that limited my enjoyment of this book.

Note to self: More Lily and less Roger
