review 1: Hot! Like Fire! In Love with This Book! In Love with Griff and Dante! This was my first full m/m novel length book and remains my favorite. Griff and Dante remain my favorite m/m couple and I'm so ready for the sequel, I could scream. Hot Head introduced me to this genre and now I'm hooked. It's like a drug though, when you get that first high and you end up on a constant search to repeat it, but all others fall short. I love the chemistry between Griff and Dante, and Griff broke my heart with his longing. The angst and misread feelings made me want to throw my iPad against the wall, wishing these two would just get their shit together and come clean already, but just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, boom, all the pieces fell into place. I love Damon Suede's ... morewriting. He's so descriptive and I felt like I knew exactly who Griff was and how he felt, I got Dante's humor and understood his confusing feeling for Griff. I could see what the backdrop of 9-11 had meant to the relationship and where the feeling might have originated from. I understood what it must have felt like to finally be able to touch each other after so many years of unspoken feelings. Damon Suede also knows how to write a sex scene, and a kissing scene to boot. This book had the hottest sex scenes I've ever read, and there were only two penetrative sex scenes in the whole book, one not even involving the MC's. But all the other scenes, from that kissing scene (wow) to the BJ scene to the masturbation scenes were as hot as anything I've ever read. I love my porny fiction, but this wasn't over the top and it came from such a genuine place of love, it almost wasn't porny at all. Almost.Dante's family were what you hope all families of gay people are, loving and supportive and crazy and funny. I ended up really liking Alek, the pron site operator, who seemed decent and the only person to really see what was happening between the MC's, when even they didn't recognize the other's feelings. Tommy, the married, closeted paramedic was so tragic and heartbreaking, and I can't wait to see what happens with him in the next book. There were so many things left unfinished though that have all the making for a great sequel. How will Griff's dad and the rest of Dante's family react? How will the brothers at the firehouse react? What will it be like living in a rougher neighborhood in Brooklyn as two out, masculine, firefighters in a committed relationship? Will Griff and Dante want a family of their own, since they enjoyed laying dad's for a day with Dante's niece so much?Over-all I'd have given this book a 10 if I could, I love it that much....Now for that sequel......
review 2: I had a chance to chat breifly with Damon Suede at an author's luncheon last April about M/M romance novels. I had read one novel in this genre and was interested in reading more. We talked about what drew women to these stories and he emphasized that they were romance novels, just with two 'heroes'. He also told me that the only women who don't like gay romance novels, were the ones who haven't read gay romance novels, (I hope I quoted him correctly on this one as I think he said he even had t-shirts with this saying!). He was right.Hot Head is warm, funny, loving, interesting, touching and ..... smoking hot! You can't help but fall in love with Griff and Dante in this well written novel revolving around two adult men finding their direction, and each other. less
