review 1: Very deftly written with a clever and intriguing plot. Chaon introduces 3 stories leaving the reader to wonder how they interrelate. What Chaon leaves out is chronology. This drives the story as he explores potent and provocative issues of identity theft, self-exploration, and belonging. Chaon's writing is very visual which serves to draw the reader in without slowing the pace of the book. Very enjoyable read and I will look for more from the author.
review 2: I thought this was a great book! The way the three different stories were woven together was executed very well, and I loved all the plot twists. As soon as I thought I figured something out, Chaon threw yet another curve ball my way, keeping the reading fresh and new at all times. I think my favorite
... morestory line by far was Ryan because I found him sweet and oddly relatable. Miles was probably my second favorite because although I did enjoy his character's rich back story, I thought that his story was the most unresolved. It seemed that he barely changed, if any. Finally, there was Lucy. I hated Lucy. She was self-centered, shallow, conceited, and just down-right annoying. I thought her character seemed forced a bit, and I did not like the way she came off at all. However, I do see some of my worst traits and tendencies in her, so she served as sort of a wake up call. All in all, this was a great book that I would recommend to anyone. less
