review 1: I've given Mission Unstoppable one extra star, because I believe that were I eight years old I would likely enjoy this book. However, I read a large number of middle grade books, and this book is almost at the very bottom of my list. The plot felt forced and unnecessarily full of "fun" facts. I was not interested in or invested in Coke and Pep's lives, and the villains were not intimidating. Worst of all is my belief that the terrorist plot and the motivation for the primary "bad guy" were both flimsy at best. I can think of several action series for middle grade readers that I would recommend before recommending The Genius Files.
review 2: The Genius Files by Dan Gutman is the first book in a series about twins named Coke and Pepsi.The twins are chosen to be... more part of a program called the genius files which trains and uses kids to save the U.S. The twins travel across the country chased by their crazed health teacher. They are helped by two agents that work for T.G.F. ( the genius files). This novel reminds me of an Alex Rider book for younger kids. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Dan Gutman’s writing. I was not thrilled with this book because there was not as many details as I would have liked and the plot wasn’t as exciting as I would have hoped. I do not think I will read the next books in the series. less
