Have you ever heard of the genre “Cat Mystery Novel?” Well let me introduce you to a beautiful thing.
One day while me and my super-mega-foxy-awesome-hot boyfriend (AVPM, anyone?) were browsing at Half Price Books, I decided to just pluck a spine off a shelf at random. The book I happened to choose was this:
(From Goodreads)Jill’s quiet life is shattered when her house is broken into and her Abyssinian, Syrah, goes missing. Jill’s convinced her kitty’s been catnapped. But when her cat-crime-solving leads her to a murdered body, suddenly all paws are pointing to Jill.
Soon, Jill discovers that Syrah isn’t the only purebred who’s been stolen. Now she has to find these furry felines before they all become the prey of a cold-blooded killer-and she ends up nabbed for a crime…
Being a cat-lover and also having an interest in mystery novels, this seemed like the luck of the draw book I possibly could have grabbed that day.
I brought my little treasure back home and immediately dived in.
This book was an absolute delight.Do not be mistaken, this is not profound literature. I will not try and convince you that this book will change your life or your view of the world or give you any kind of insight into the mysteries of the universe. It is an easy read.
Do you ever feel the stress of life weighing down around your ears and wishing to escape into a book, but not wanting to think too hard? Then, my friend, this book is perfect for you!
I could always easily immerse myself into this book. It does not ask much from you. It doesn’t even ask you to attempt to solve the whodunnit case that the book revolves around. It simply asks you to be present and watch as Jill is taken out of mourning and into Mercy city.
And don’t worry it’s not told in the cat’s perspective. It ain’t that corny, folks!
If you love cats, have a fondness for mysteries, and have a desire to not think too hard with your current read, then I highly recommend this book.
And if you enjoy it so much – it’s a series. You’re welcome.
