review 1: A light, easy read from Dan Savage. I've never read any of his books before, but I thoroughly enjoyed this mini-essays about politics, religion and gayness in the US of A. Extra props go to the chapter about Rick Santorum. I definitely learned a lot about anti-gay politics in the States [normally I try to avoid getting too intellectually involved in this issue since it pisses me off so very terribly.]
review 2: Savage is a fun writer. Not a great one but definitely an entertaining one. He was preaching to the choir with me on all his arguments and I had heard most of them before from listening to his podcast. He does have a problem at times with getting on rambling tangents that take away from the strength of his argument but that's just his style. Still
... more, it was an easy and enjoyable read and I recommend it. less
