review 1: The only bad thing about this book is that it ended!! Why, oh why did it have to be 600 pages of fabulousness? There is no way another book in the series will be ready for at least 2 years. From a person who loves reading distopias, "special power" books, and anything else that can be called kind of weird, this book is unique, engaging and just all around wonderful. Great story telling. I'm going to have to find Price's first book now.
review 2: Right up front, I should say that I'm giving this novel a 4 based on how much I enjoyed it -- the plot, the characters, the concept. All of those things were great. If, on the other hand, I were to give this novel a rating based on how well it is written... Well, you'd be looking at a 2. The author obviously doesn't und... moreerstand the subtleties of the word "leer" and prefers to use it over and over in instances where it doesn't really work at all. His characters are also prone to "shining" smiles at one another, and they frequently "chuck" their hands. There's just not the really strong control of language here that I would have liked to have seen. Other than that, I thought the book was great and I'm looking forward to the next one in the series. less
