review 1: The 1st book I read from Daniel Silva , was "the English Girl" I rated it with 6 Stars. So why this book was only 3 stars, I don't know. Part of it was that the story in my view was too shallow. It felt as if Silva had some idea of a book, and tried to fill up some 400 pages. The main hero in this book (Alon) acted most of the time as a Supervisor and organizer. Seems to me that Silva came to the final conclusion that the hero of his series is too old, and can't take active (fighting) part in the story. When I finally got to the last chapters the ending was vague and very disappointing..Yes. It was readable, but lacking the enthusiasm of being at work and thinking about the book waiting for me at home. That's the best description for a 5 star book.
review 2: A
... moreudiobook for the car - although this falls into the category of book I tend to term "macho bullsh!t" (Israeli superspy hero, who also restores artwork, tracking down a missing Rembrandt portrait that hides a dark secret!), it was still a generally entertaining thriller that kept me occupied during a lot of driving this past week, and aside from the occasional eye roll I did not have to resort to yelling at the audiobook as I have done for other similar themed books in the past. :D less

I thought this one was very similar to Moscow Rules (I believe?). Still good and fun though.

Enjoyed this one a great deal. Bit of a twist relative to the normal Allon books.

Enjoyable but a weak adventure taking into account the other books by this author.

Very good. Read "The kill artist" (Gabriel Allon #1) and then read this.

I enjoyed this one. Entertaining and fast-paced. Great escape book.
