review 1: I confess to a presupmtion - that being to have come to consider Gabriel and Chiara freinds. While reading most anyone of Sylvas stories I am in the company of my friedns. To finish the book is to see freids walk out my door leaving me to wonder when I will see them again. How long must I wait for this part of my life resume? Silly? I suppose. But then who does not indulge some world of imsgination - does not live to some degree in an imaginary world? A waking dream for those of us who have yet to learn the art of awakwening while in the middle of our dreams.An authors author - Silva's books are expertly well crafted. Rarely a false note.
review 2: My first read of Daniel Silva and therefore my introduction to Gabriel Allon. Overall it was a fun read with the u... moresual mystery, intrigue, plot twists and a likable lead character. I did like the backdrop of stolen art as the core of the story too. I didn't rate it higher because I thought the plot meandered a bit making it a bit sluggish in spots. I understand Silva was aiming for a complicated lineage of the stolen artwork which I did appreciate. However, it made for a very long set up. There were also a lot of characters introduced throughout and I wasn't sure who was important and who wasn't in the scheme of things--not that I'm a simpleton but perhaps the writing wasn't clear in the intent. Bottom line is I did become a fan of Gabriel Allon and will look for another adventure with him. less
