review 1: I have to sadly give this book three stars. it was not as good as Dorothy must die or even the prequel No place like Oz. in this book I feel Paige spent more time focused on detail of dresses and caves and less on the story of why Glinda wanted to use Jellia. The Witch must Burn is about Jellia who we meet in Dorothy Must Die. however we don't know who she is or what her purpose is until the end of the book. Jellia is a half fairy who has half of the magic of oz. Glinda tries to use Jellia to work her mining machine to gather the magic of Oz. when Jellia isn't strong enough to do the task then Glinda throws her out. we also see again Nox, Mombi, Gert, and Glamora who is Glinda twin. but again we are left not knowing reply why they are in these books other than to kill peop... morele. yeah that's great but they need more of a back story to tie everything together rather than just popping them in at the last minute and expecting people to know who they are. if the story had less details and more of an actually story type feel then I could see four stars. but really I don't see why this book was needed as a prequel. we already had No Place Like Oz. I also believe that these books are not living up to their title names. such as Dorothy Must Die...yet it was the Tin woodman who died. the No Place Like Oz which did live up to its name. but then we get to The Witch must Burn and no one dies, there is no action and all we get is an endless amount of detail.so sadly this one gets Three stars.
review 2: Dorothy is not what you think. She is now starring in Oz as the new Wicked Witch. This plot twisting novella is the sequel to Dorothy Must Die.Dorothy's back, but she's not a sweet little girl anymore. She's craving power and destruction more than anyone can imagine. She's not alone. Someone working from behind the curtains is slowly taking control of all of Oz...Glinda, the "Good Witch of the South" Bringing Dorothy back was just another part of her plan.A young maid named Jellica will soon discover that the good witch isn't at all what she claims. The Witch Must Burn is a compelling twist on a beloved classic. less

A good prequel, but I've read better. It does go into some back story which was needed.
