review 1: I am glad I read this. I wanted to know how Dorothy came into her power and this short yet detailed prequel did not put me to shame like so many other books have. however I am upset that Paige did not include a little more detail in how the Tin Woodman got his army, how the lion began sucking the fear out of people, and why the scarecrow decided to start making evil people. or even why Glinda was really captured by Ozma. it does answer the question of what happened to Aunt Em and Uncle Henry I do give it credit for that. but the question is even though it was a prequel....why was it so short. and why was it released before Dorothy must die and why does it not come in a paper back copy like the other book???we still need answers about Dorothy's rain of power miss Paige. ple... morease answer the call of Oz...let us know what happens to her friends and a little more into why Ozma became coocoo in the head.
review 2: I previously read Dorothy Must Die and really enjoyed it. This novella does help fill in some of the information missing from the storyline, but I would have liked to have see the Dorothy characterization a little more consistent with the original girl, at least at the beginning before she goes so power-hungry. Overall, the characters don't seem to have much connection to their original, Wizard of Oz-selves other than their names and key details (like brains, heart, and courage). So, slightly disappointed, but still a good story. less
