review 1: I think that this book gives me a surprising ending of Larten's emotions and reactions across from his confidence of changing his whole life. In the beginning of the book, Larten meets Sebra, a vampire that he wanted to be a vampire assistant. He's been confident for years after he has became a vampire assistant and the adventures he had with Cirque Du Freak. However, when a friend of Seba, who was a vampire asked Larten why he wanted to be a vampire assistant, Larten starts to think about his decisions and regrets what he has done. He feels that the point of being a vampire is to have the lack of power which gets him to nowhere. The big surprising change in the story was when Larten said, "He was staring at the floor, thinking about the choices he had made, the sad old ma... moren with the flowers, wondering if he should have been so quick to pledge himself to Seba that night in the graveyard a lifetime ago." Even though this quote was towards the end of the quote, it changed Larten, and he will find a solution to overcome his situation and his dark sprits in the next series of the book. Another quote that Larten was warned was, "Vampires should not mix with humans at times like this." This quote shows that Larten misses the human life of him and his parents. So, he wants ti regret what he is doing.
