review 1: Another great, frustrating, adventure. I don't know why I continue to submit myself to this torture every 3 months or so. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment and love my periodical Zom-B fix. Either way this latest installment, like the previous forrays into mental torture, was amazing, full of twists, pain and pleasure, and never let up. The story was intriguing and satisfying in a way that will have you grinning ear to ear in parts. I love Darren Shan's work and eagerly await my next fix. Thanks for the memories until next time. I swear I should just wait until you finish the series in its entirety before I continue. I might be able to save on my therapy bills that way.
review 2: After a surprising betrayal , B Smith finds herself in the clutches of the sadist
... moreic Dan-Dan. As he tortures her, just because he can, the author provides several descriptive passages that will make readers wince in sympathy for poor B. As she learns the fate of her mother and father, she also comes to realize that she has become a symbol for a ground roots movement that is sweeping the country. I have no idea where Darren Shan gets his ideas, but this series is designed to make readers pity those poor zombies like B and wish that she'd had a different sort of upbringing. less

Good but surprisingly not as good as other Darren Shan, and reminded me strongly of Gladiator

B's best line in this one: "Get stuffed, fat man."
