review 1: Finished this book two days ago. I have read the first 4 books in about 2 weeks (while working full time and taking a graduate level class) the series has been a good way for me to escape for a little while. I was glad to see the character dynamics start to change in this book and see "the bad guys" starting to win a few victories. It gives the series a fresh look and left me wanting to continue the series to find out what happens...especially the last few pages.
review 2: The series took a definite turn into darker plot lines with this book. Whereas all the previous books ended with notes of optimism and satisfactory endings to their respective story lines, this book brought forth such overwhelming odds against our protagonist that it'll be interesting to see
... morewhere the author takes us from here. The doom spelled out from pretty much every page of this book is going to take a massive effort to overcome and would almost seem miraculous if the author can pull that off without some Deus ex Machina like interventions. less
