review 1: "My name is Mina" by David Almond is a prequel to his book "Skellig". You can read them in any order. I read "Skellig" first. I enjoyed getting to know Mina more and seeing things from "Skellig" from her point of view. She had some interesting thoughts, and some things made me stop and think. Sometimes though I felt she got too presumptuous. Mina is supposed to be a young child, (I don't know the exact age), yet some of the theories she has and questions she asks seem a little too mature for her. I guess she's supposed to be mature for her age and a very curious child. Sometimes she got a little annoying. If you read and enjoyed "Skellig", read "My name is Mina". It's a quick read and it was nice seeing the story from another character's point of view.
review 2:... more> This Book is very good. A girl named Mina, who has suffered through the loss of her father has a great imagination. She has a journal that she has always said she would write in but never had until one night. In her journal she write about life, her thoughts, and stories. Mina is home-schooled and often spends her days up in her tree. In this book you learn many things about Mina. Since this book is a prequel to the first book Skellig, you learn more about Mina than you knew in Skellig. I really enojyed this book and thought Mina had very good (and different) views on life. less
