review 1: I'm hooked on this series. The war is coming to a close and John Russell is anxious to get back into Berlin to find Effi and Paul. He goes to Moscow and offers help to the Russians and is parachuted iton the city. This is the story of his adventure and various scrapes with the Gestapo, SS and then the invading Russians. He finds his family and is able to help them out and the story closes with his handing over papers to the NKVD. Will he get to the West. Have to order the next book from the library to find out. Very good read but you must start at the Zoo Station.
review 2: Didn't realise when I bought this that it was part of a series. Really, really want to go back & read the others from the beginning now. Fantastic account of end of Reich Berlin & all the as

A few spelling & grammatical errors had slipped by which made reading a bit disjointed at times...but doesn't detract from a wonderful story, expertly told. Now to look for the earlier ones in the series... less
