The Dwellers
review 1: 3.5 stars. I was swept into this novel from Chapter 1 which has a great beginning. The first half of the book kept my interest, and I kept turning the pages to find out what would happen. There are lots of what we've come to expect in a YA dystopian-esque story like this: strong heroine, possible love interest, fractured families, a great quest... The Moon Dwellers does a great job integrating all of this into a story that felt fresh. But things got a little muddy toward the middle. At times it felt the plot was dragging and little accomplished. Tristan, the male lead who switches chapters with Adele, the female lead, is desperate to find her when their first meeting results in a huge headache (literally) that he doesn't understand. That's exciting and different, but (spoi... moreler alert!)......we are no closer to finding out why by the book's end. I would've liked a few more answers to the questions posed. Just a few. I know this is the first book in a series and some things will be left hanging, but it felt like too much was left up in the air. Some tightening of the plot and cutting of words would've made this book stronger. But that said, it was still an interesting story. I applaud the author for taking his novel underground (ala Wool) for a twist on the usual. Parental flag: some mild language
review 2: I could not put it down, especially towards the end. He does a great job keeping you interested and entertained, and I am finding out there is an entire serious brewing in the back ground, Next is Sun Dwellers, And Before I can read Earth Dwellers I need to Read, Ice, water, and Fire country... Im very very excited as I don't have to find the next books to read, they have been picked for me by this amazing Author, Thank you David Estes less
