In the first novel in Winston Graham’s hit series, a weary Ross Poldark returns to England from war, looking forward to a joyful homecoming with his beloved Elizabeth. But instead he discovers his father has died, his home is overrun by livestock and drunken servants, and Elizabeth—believing Ross to be dead—is now engaged to his cousin. Ross has no choice but to start his life anew.
Thus begins the Poldark series, a heartwarming, gripping saga set in the windswept landscape of Cornwall. With an unforgettable cast of characters that spans loves, lives, and generations, this extraordinary masterwork from Winston Graham is a story you will never forget.
Let me just start out by saying that I read this book because I love the Poldark TV show. I just love it! Everything about the show is awesome, and I am very excited for the next season. All the actors/actresses are great, the scenery is gorgeous, and the plot is so intriguing…not to mention the fact that it is Aidan Turner as Ross. But, I am just going to leave that at that. Otherwise you will never be able to stop me!
A super cool thing about this book is that it is pretty much the script of the movie. Because I watched the show before reading the book, I could follow along very easily. I mean, it was written in old English. And most books written in old English are difficult to read. However, this was not at all hard to read.
There are a bunch of different covers of Ross Poldark. However, this is the cover that my library had. So, of course, I have to give it 5 stars because it has Ross on it!
As for the book, I really enjoyed reading it. It has held me over while I am waiting for the next season of Poldark to come out. Winston Graham is a great author. 5 stars to Ross Poldark!
