review 1: As someone who loves history I really loved the way that Gibbins took bits of history and combined them with an adventure story to add a new twist to the event. After reading this book I began to actually believe that something like this could have happened. He helps raise questions of "what if" without turning it into a conspiracy book. If you enjoy history and wondering "what if something had been different" then this is the book for you.
review 2: If you have a penchant for diving, archeology and the Ancient this is probably a book you would enjoy. I didn't find myself particularly caring about the characters or what would happen to them. It's an ok read, but didn't find myself particular eager to find out what would happen in the story. The story is essenti
... moreally about the importance of networking and it does seem somewhat formulaic with the plot. You can't really compare it to Dan Brown at all, as you don't feel the suspense or really on edge during the story and has a somewhat predicable feel about it. Things feel a bit too serendipitous and covenient at times, and it feels like you're just waiting for next biggest discovery in X place in X amount of years. So whilst it was an OK read, it isn't a read that i would recommend to be honest as there are better reads in the genre. less
