review 1: The premise is good, and the story shows the heartache of losing a child, and how differently people deal with the situation. But what happens when the child returns and doesn't want to be there? It's after Caitlin's return that the story started to become unrealistic. The parents, particularly the mother, are not very likable characters. Overall, I don't feel that the book lived up to the reviews.
review 2: This is the second of Bell's books I've read and once again, I'm left with a "blah" feeling. The premise was interesting, but his bland, colorless writing style leaves me feeling very detached from the story.
