review 1: Never Come Back had a lot of twists and turns. Especially towards the end. But, the story never gets muddled. Elizabeth's mom has been murdered. The book starts out with Elizabeth finding out about her moms murder. Her brother Ronnie was at a neighbors. Ronnie has Down Syndrome. But, he is a fully functioning adult. Elizabeth hasn't spoken to her mother in 6 weeks. They had a fight regarding Ronnie's care if something should happen to their mom. Elizabeth is a lot like her mom Leslie. Guarded, closed off. But, she doesn't answer her moms question about taking care of her brother. Now she is consumed with grief. Never Come Back leaves you wanting more. The chapters are short. The writing is to the point. He leaves just enough to make you curious as to what secrets Elizabeth... more's mom was hiding. When Ronnie becomes a suspect, you kind of get the feeling he isn't the murderer. But then again, you can't say for sure. Never Come Back keeps you guessing.
review 2: I started by reading this book then decided to listen to the audio version half way through. Boy was it a right decision because through out the book I find it not engaging, the plot not convincing, and the characters contrived. I don't even get the relevancy of the title to the story. It may worth a two star instead of just one but as I think back I honestly cannot retrieve any good comments for this book. less
