review 1: One night,Jason Danvers alcoholic sister(now sober),Hayden, who he hasn't seen in 5 years rings his doorbell to ask him a favor. She needs him to watch her 17 year old daughter,Sierra, for 48 hours while she tends to something in town, something she is very secretive about. When she doesn't return the police are called. In their search for Hayden they discover the body of Logan Shaw, who has not been seen since high school graduation,27 years ago. After a fist fight with his best friend,Jason, over a girl it was believed that Logan left town.Jason wonders if there is a connection between his friend's death and his sister's disappearance, who else from his past is involved and is his niece in danger? The Forgotten Girl is a quick, easy read. The story flows smoothly but is a bit bland... more,as is the main character,Jason. One thing I really did appreciate was how David Bell unfolds truths about Logan Shaw and the flawed friendship between the best friends throughout the story.Though I was disappointed in this mystery I did find it to be an enjoyable read.
review 2: This was the first David Bell novel I've ever read. I'd give this novel a 3.5/5 rating. This , is a well made contemporary crime thriller. Definitely a slow burner, this book has a lot of background information to divulge which in the end made for, I thought very vivid well written characters whose struggles and suspicion's drive the heart of the novel. The suspense and tension is well paced and as the novel progresses definitely makes this book a thriller you don't want to put down. less
