review 1: First 100 pages - Great!Last 100 pages - even better!550 pages in between? A strange alternate history spy thriller, split between too many chracters point of view. Too many long passages which you get to the end of, and wonder what they have aded to the overall story. Too many basic mistakes with technology (the author does not seem to understand how radar works. The front cover and blurb on the back of the book onyl really refer to the first and last 100 pages - which, to be fair, are great passages, well researhed and enjoyable. The middle section is such a slog though, that is negates the good ending. I bought this book as a Sci Fi fan, but it's not really true sci fi. Someone who likes spr thrilers and politcal intrigue (I don;t really) would probabaly enjoy the middl... moree, but not the framing passages at either end with thier time travel and alternate history plots - so I'm not sure exactily this book is written for. To summerise - great idea, intially well handled. Bogged down in the middle with a complete change of genre which doesn't suit the story. Good ending, but such a slog to get there, it's not really worth it.
review 2: Kowalski made a masterpiece here. The basis of the novel reels you in -- a man goes back in time to try to save the Titanic, and the future is altered greatly as a result. The backstory is detailed and solid, with plenty of interesting alterations to what actually occurred. It did mess with my head a bit, though; my historical knowledge, as limited as it had been beforehand, was jumbled with the 'reality' of the novel. The dialogue isn't boring, with plenty of description yet not so much to the point where the book appears to ramble. A truly great book, hats off to Kowalski for this top-notch story. less

I'm a sucker for time travelling alt-history, this is some of the best I've read

Great premise, but one if the more confusing books that I've ever read.

Would have given this book a 10 but I ran out of stars.

Long. So long. But, in the end, worth the time to read.

Interesting idea, badly executed.
