review 1: I am still enjoying the series, and I did enjoy this book, but it is starting to drag on. I've typically purchased Weber's books in hardback since I like him as an author, but I doubt I will continue to do this with this series. I picked this one up at the library, and I'm not sure that I need to own my own copy. It's still a good book though, but Mr Weber probably needs to wrap up some of his series.
review 2: Wow! The first time I took this book out of the the library, I hadn't read the others in the series. I thought it was so boring that I could barely get through the first hundred pages. But then I went back and read the books that came before it in the series. This time, when I picked up How Firm a Foundation, I couldn't put it down. Scenes that ... moreseemed banal before were now packed with hidden meaning. Gripping! Just don't use it as an entrance point into the series and you'll love it. less
