review 2: Can I give this book a Newbery? Plllleeeeease? I loved, loved, loved it. It felt completely real while being totally fantastical. It manages to squeeze death, divorce, delinquency, economic recession, poverty, teenage angst and animal abuse in with ninja training, spying, pick pocket training, exotic poisons, martial arts, major
... moremoola and more! This is a perfect "school" book in that is completely entertaining but with lots of meat for discussion. I read it because it was on several "best" list for 2013 and, oh boy, does it deserve it. Give it to kids ages 9-12 who like realistic fiction but enjoy adventure and humor. less
