review 1: Ugh..Another disappointing book. I had high hopes for this, but unfortunately I could not finish. The writing was choppy, the characters were one dimensional, and the actions kept repeating themselves over and over. I swear I read the same statement of "Dell did not kill herself" at least a dozen times before I got to page 50. Hallie and other characters swore by using the word shit several times. I'm not a prude, nor does swearing turn me off, but if your going to do it at least make it a bit more creative or use different words. I've never been more bored by a set of characters in my entire life.
review 2: This is a different book and I liked it! It's a fantasy and a mystery all rolled into one. The character Hallie is a strong woman, maybe to strong, b
... moreut she is an army soldier out of Afghanistan. So many books start out with a woman being strong but they eventually end up with the man being a protector. And maybe that's what women want. But Hallie is strong throughout the book and even saves a guy's butt a couple of times. Don't get me wrong, I like that I have a guy who rescues me... but I also wish I was strong enough to rescue myself...but not enough to go to the gym. less
