review 1: This book consists of short ghost stories, tied together by a haunted place. The stories are not terribly scary, nor is the description compelling or characters interesting. The book is supposedly based on Edith Wharton's novel Kerfol. I think that I"ll go back and read the original. This one was not worth my time. I kept hoping for more drama and it never came. The stage was set well, but the author didn't come through with a tight story.
review 2: This book is composed of 5 short stories....not really. More like one intricate well told story and then 4 smaller ones which serve no true purpose. I am spoiling anything- as this is on the blurb, The ghosts of Kerfol continue to haunt people lives centuries later. So basically the first story is the manifestation
... moreof the ghosts of Kerfol, how they came to be. It was good in my opinion, I quite enjoyed it. It has a bitter, mournful mood to it and i thought it was very suitable for the story. It is a tragedy which i don't often read, nevertheless it was quite touching. Then after that i continued to read...but gradually just lost interest and skimmed the words until i finished the book. less
