review 1: This was an ok read for me, I have read all the books in this series so far and this one just seemed to be missing something. I had a hard time connecting with the characters for a lot of the book and I almost felt like everything with them was too rushed. Brandy is the new manager for the Brantorus MC bar and she came their for one reason, Los Li a rival MC sent her with the threat of her fathers life. Now Brandy has a job and thats to get as much info. as she can so that she can get her father back home and safe. What she never had planned was Torque.Torque has healed from being shot and he's more than happy being all alone, so when he see's Brandy he don't trust her and when he spends more time with her he finds himself battling between wanting her and not trusting her.... more Soon wanting her wins out, but Brandy has the clubs protection and Torque will have to answer for what he has done. As Brandy and Torque spend more time together Brandy finds herself falling in love and the weight of her secret soon becomes to much, and she will have to decide if she trusts Torque enough with the truth. With Los Li putting on more pressure The MC will have to make plans of their own the keep the club and their families safe. But when all is said and done there are still many things left that may force Brandy and Torque apart when they both finally found love. This wasn't a bad read but I felt like this was way to rushed with Torque and Brandy. One second Torque couldn't stand her then the next he couldn't get enough, But once I got farther into this book it did feel like we were getting more of Torque and Brandy's relationship. We also get to check up on all of the member of the MC from previous books and we get a great look into Torque's past and what made him who he was today. This book can be read on it's own but its so much better if you read with the series because of all of the build up to this book that you would miss out on. Overall this was a good book I just wished that there had been more of Brandy and Torque falling in love so that I could have felt more contacted to them.
review 2: I debated whether to give GRASPING FOR FREEDOM a 4-Lime or 3 1/2-Lime review, ultimately deciding that while I enjoyed the novel, the things that bothered me would not allow me to give it a full 4-Lime review.Don't get me wrong, there is great, no, sizzling chemistry between the hero with a mysterious past, Sergeant at Arms of the Bantorus Motorcycle club, Torque Kendler, and the new, equally mysterious manager at the MC's bar, Brandy Haas.Torque and Brandy are both strong individuals with painful pasts which they've chosen to rise above, always looking out for those they care for. When they meet, the attraction and don't-mess-with-me attitude is mutual :)My issues with this novel stem from Brandy's reasons for being there. In my opinion, there needed to be more explanation about her father's 'condition' and how he ended up in the hands of Los Li, a group that's part of the Mexican mafia.Torque suspects something is 'off' about Brandy's story and how she came to be hired by Bantorus MC at their bar, Cactus Cove. There's a moment when her secret could have been revealed but Brandy offers a plausible explanation that Torque accepts. In part because he's more concerned about trying to manage his attraction to her, when she's been declared off-limits to the club members. The other issue I had concerned the reasons for Los Li deciding to target Bantorus MC when a truce was supposed to have been declared at the end of book #3, SOOTHING HIS MADNESS. We do get an explanation, but it could have been fleshed out because I was left with a couple of questions about how Torque really ended up at the top of the Los Li 'hit' list. These two plot points aside, at its core GRASPING FOR FREEDOM is about a man and woman who are brave enough to let someone into their hearts. You will go 'aww' when you find out what Torque does to demonstrate his newly-discovered love for Brandy and cheer when she comes to an important realisation about her relationship with her father. :)So, to sum it all up, while I would have liked more detailed explanations about certain things, I enjoyed getting to see Torque and Brandy 'find their happy' and being able to catch up with other Bantorus MC members whose stories were featured in the first three books.(GFF can be read as a stand-alone novel.) less

Excellent! But, one question...Kyle or Kurt? Two books now that go back and forth.
