review 1: I picked up the second and third books in this series from a cheap bookshop and decided to download the first onto my kindle and don't regret it at all. Jess Harris is a soon to be ex- FBI agent who has been called on to assist the investigation into 4 missing girls. There is seemingly nothing to connect the missing girls to one another. The detective in charge of the case is Jess's former boyfriend. Jess is somewhat of a maverick detective, happy to bend the rules to achieve results. This is a great opener to the series as there is quite a lot of background given to the characters and previous investigations and the book is left on a cliff hanger. Looking forward to the next one now!
review 2: Once again Debra Webb has totally captured my attention. Thi... mores series (Faces of Evil) does not necessarily have to be read in the order written. I read the first book by Webb when I was ill. My daughter picked it up for me and I started on book 4. It was good enough to make me go back and find the others. The "romantic mystery" is pulled off very successfully. While we are involved in a gripping mystery, we have the side story of the romance between the main characters, as well as romance between their friends and co-workers. Very well written and keeps me reading half the night! less
