review 1: the tension mounts higher and higher. hidden secrets come to light about the past and the FBI task force confirms that the puppet master serial killer lives quite close to the profiler in the case. Why is Dan's mom so upset over jess' s pregnancy and Dan's plans to marry jess? How far back does all this go? And how are the mysteries surrounding jess' s parents involved?lots of questions but few answers. jess worries about the unborn life she carries and about Dan's growing problems within the police force. the characters grow better with each book as do the complex plots. the story within a story within yet another story. 3 more books before the series ends. waiting for the sequel already.
review 2: I'm disappointed. I fell in love with series when the first f... moreew books were out and I've rushed to read each one since. This one, was a let down for me. Swap out the case Jess is working on and this could be book 7. I imagine book 9 will get us only through midterm of the pregnancy and Spears will still be unreachable. This, to me, is beginning to feel like a really good series that should have ended 2 or 3 books ago. Chasing one killer for 8 books is a little more than I care to follow. I doubt I'll buy the next one. less
