review 1: This sounded so much better when I got it from the book panel at Dragon Con. The story line itself is good. Major potential here for a series. And I'm hoping to see a second book. Otherwise the end of this book isn't worth the time to read it. It was slow going, but picks up towards the end. However the last chapter is like a big screw you to the reader. It's enough to make the reader mad or say as I did "WTF? Are you freaking serious? THIS is how it ends? After everything that happened THIS is how it ends? " This book isn't a complete let down. The story is well written. However don't get too hooked on a happy ending cuz you will be disappointed.
review 2: Outstanding Southern gothic magical realism novel that I'd put off reading due to "judging a book by it's
... more cover". It just didn't LOOK interesting to me. However, once I started last night I whipped through it by early this AM. Post hurricane Savannah Georgia is overtaken by demons who drug the humans into compliance and create an army of zombie-like servants and engage in bloody demon turf wars. One teen stops taking her antipsychotic meds and fights to reclaim her late best friend's soul from the demons. Highly recommended for older teen readers and adults with a taste for dark supernatural YA fiction. less

The YA version of a horror novel, with a southern twist. Different, and well written :)
