review 1: Getting this much backstory in the characters of a novella is something most authors can't pull off. But in this wonderful story we are treated to rich characters whose full lives are reveled to us without hitting us over the head with details, more in the engaging way you learn about a friend through conversation. That said this tale is far more than backstory, it is an adventure in the dangerous world of Sang where we at first think we are following Casper, a character from a the first Blud Novel, but later find out this is not his story at all. This is the story Miss Pleasance and I won't ruin it by telling her story, it is far to much fun to read it yourself.

It was her kindness, her humanity that would be her greatest cost. Frannie found him in the alley, but despite all her resolution, her bravery, and her love, she would be hard pressed to save him. To Thom it started out with a fire, and ended with her loving her savior, her secrets she would finally learn to share. This story has a great premise, and a deep and rich mythology, Bludrats, Bludcats, Bludmen, and Daimons haunt the streets of London, with its Steampunk atmosphere and its lonely back streets, alleys, and shops. I am interested in reading more by this enrapturing author. less
