review 1: Take two for the review (it'll be shorter).It had been several months since I'd delved into the world of Allie Beckstrom. This is one of those series that I'm actually cheering myself for reading it as late as I did. I had read the first book years ago, but never continued with the series. Some years later, I read the first book again and then quickly read the next four. So basically, I only have to wait on myself to finish the series. I don't have to wait for the author to publish the next in the series. This is most definitely a win situation in that regards. Is this book a standalone? No, this is most definitely not a standalone book. You need to know the backstory in order to fully enjoy this world. Plus you get more Zayvion which is definitely a reason to r... moreead this series.I would definitely recommend this book to someone who loves a great urban fantasy. If you do not like that genre, then perhaps you should try another series/book. But if you're willing to try another urban fantasy, I would definitely recommend this world.
review 2: I really need to start reading the books in this series closer together so that I don't constantly have to play catch up. I love how complicated everything has become, with never knowing who's truly good or truly bad, but it makes it very hard for a series hopper like me to remember what's going on. That being said, once my memory was refreshed, the book was non-stop action. It seemed like Allie never got a chance to just sit down and take a break. So much is going on, including the search for Sedra, three convicts escaping from the Authority's secret prison, and an investigation of the Authority's leadership. Needless to say, Allie has a lot on her mind. I loved that this book included a lot of Shame and Terric, as I absolutely adore both of them. The ending left me a little worried about the future for Zay and Allie, but I'm very interested to see what happens next! less
