review 1: First, this cover is awful and if I hadn't already started reading the series, I wouldn't have touched this book.That said, I liked the story. Less about Kara Gillian the detective and more about Kara Gillian the summoner. I knew from other reviews to expect the cliffhanger ending, but luckily I'm far enough behind in this series that the next book is already out (yay!) That said, the cliffhanger ending wasn't really all that surprising...
review 2: This series just took a step up - the plot thickens, characters deepen, secrets are explored, and then leaves you with a cliff-hanger style ending (grr - luckily the next book is already waiting for me at the library). I still don't enjoy Kara as much as Angel from Rowland's Zombie series, but the books have grow... moren on me and this was nice and twisty. I think there's a good set-up for a story arch that I have high hopes for.Definitely an author staying on my TBR pile - she continues to improve. less
