review 1: Good character development. Very well written. No overly embellishments of the scenery and descriptions. I very much liked the story line. Those in ministry can get burned out and don't always make the best solution to express it. I appreciate the author not making it a series meaning I have to commit to another book to see how things turned out. The ending was kind if wrapped up quickly though with a few unexpected twists. Highly recommended
review 2: So we had quite a lengthy discussion in my book club last night on what to rate this book! I really liked the book - it held my attention, the writing was good, I enjoyed the character development, and my favorite part was the unexpected twists at the end that I never really saw coming. So why not rate it with
... more 5 stars? Because to me to rate a book 5 stars means the book changed me in some way. Very few books get that level of love from me! 4 stars means I really, really liked it and have no real criticism of it. 3 stars means I liked it a lot but there were some areas that weren't realistic or weren't believable. 2 stars means I didn't like it at all and 1 star means I hated it so much I didn't even finish it. After much thought I feel this book missed a 4 star rating by a very small margin. This is why: I enjoyed the development of the characters and storyline very much - this is what grabs my attention and pulls me into a book. This book did that all the way through UNTIL the very end. And the way this book wrapped up to me was quick, simplistic, and a bit unbelievable. I felt that a sequel could have easily been written to explore the reactions and feelings of the main character's husband in this book. But instead, he just accepted absolutely everything, no questions asked and his damaged marriage was miraculously restored in spite of some pretty tough turn of events. So, if the author had chosen to make this book one of a series I would have rated it a 4. As it turns out, I gave it a 3 (a very high 3). That being said, it is a great book and I will definitely look into reading more books by this author. less
