A Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery
review 1: Not one of DMD's best books, in my opinion. The ending seemed rushed and shoved into as few pages as possible. I had grown to like that Goldy's recipes were so prevalent in previous books. I really didn't like that they seemed to be an after thought in this book. They were placed unceremoniously behind even the sneak peek of the upcoming book. I definitely wouldn't rate this one as high as the other books I've read from DMD.
review 2: Wow. Number 16 in the series? It's hard to believe I've read them all. First, I don't expect this type of book to be realistic as far as murder mysteries go. ... morerning, another mid-morning, and it doesn't seem to affect her. In the earlier books, murder seemed to find Goldy, and she was somewhat peripheral to solving the case. She carried on with her catering jobs, and usually worked around the dead bodies. In this book, it seemed like she was being an annoyance to the investigators (including her husband Tom, a law enforcement official.) Of course, they were never annoyed, but she persisted is being a nuisance. Also, cooking seemed to take a back seat to whatever else she seemed to be doing. The secondary characters were plenteous, the previous secondary characters were not mentioned so much: son Arch, Julian Teller, Marla, and none of them had much of a role in this book.Still, as unbelievable as the plot(s) was/were, this is still my favorite culinary mystery series. Write on, Diane Mott Davidson! Maybe the next book will introduce Tom and Goldy's little espresso shot! less
