review 1: I really enjoyed reading a mystery with a fabric store as the main feature in the small town setting. Living with a grandmother who bought fabric by the bolt, not the yard, the descriptions struck a chord with me and took me back to a time when fabric and patterns were a way of life for many a women. I thought the origin of the main characters name, Poly, was quite cute, as were the names of her two furry companions. She seemed quite skeptical of most everyone, probably from the combination of mysterious accidents and the fact that she was a newcomer to town. But near the end, realizing that she behaved somewhat badly, I was sorry that she wasn't able to overcome her pride and apologize. But maybe that will continue into another story?? Loved the variety of personalities ... morein the story and the various sub-plots, one concerning the secrets her parents kept from her, and the other surrounding Charlie. Will be looking forward to the next book.
review 2: I received this book originally form GoodReads First Reads-- I loved this book I read it "all" in one day I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters and the story kept my interest. Through no fault of anyones I got to page 264 and the book was done - I was so hoping it wasn't done there. :) Turns out the last 30 pages were just missing. So I went to Barnes and Noble and got another copy that had the rest. It was worth it to finish it, and I can't wait for the next one in the series. less
